Welcome

Welcome to the Equipment Location-Certification Information Database (EL-CID) Online User Manual V1.7. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) conceptualized the original EL-CID desktop tool as a graphical, icon-based interface supported by sophisticated logic that captures system inter- and intra- relationships while providing prompts for entry of minimal system parameters. The EL-CID Online development modernizes EL-CID by enhancing and simplifying system tasks.

Overview

You are currently reading the first topic within the Overview book of the Online Help Manual. The Overview book introduces basic EL-CID Online functions and features. Before reading other help content, all users should read the Overview book, beginning with the Introduction to Workflow.

Help Resources

Whereas EL-CID Desktop help materials were made available in document format, EL-CID Online offers online help content, including training videos and course. For more information on help resources, see Online Help Resources. Gain practical experience with the Editor fields and functionality through the Beginner Editor Training Course and/or the Intermediate Editor Training Course.

Workflow Roles

The workflow application used for SRB, SSD, and SPS processing will be referred to as simply "The Workflow." Specific Workflow help content is organized by role, because many roles will interact with the workflow, and most tasks are restricted to certain roles. These topics can be found in the Workflow Roles Book.

Editor

The Editor is a tool used to edit pre-existing Standard Spectrum Resource Format (SSRF) based documents associated with a certification request. Because all Editor tasks will be conducted primarily by submitters, the Editor help is organized by task and is located in the Editor Features Book.
